Biography

Alison Darby is a PhD graduate in Pacific and Asian History. She specializes in the history of Japanese empire, history of medicine, gender studies and disability studies. She is currently preparing her dissertation titled, Patriotic Marriage: Eugenics, colonial intimacy and the politics of the marital family in the Japanese empire, 1931–1945, for publication as a monograph.

Research interests

Japanese empire, colonial Korea, colonial Taiwan, gender and sexuality studies, history of eugenics, history of medicine, assimilation policy in colonial Korea and colonial Taiwan, disability activism in Northeast Asia
