Project Details
Description
This project will show how a non-Chinese tradition of philosophy fundamentally influenced the development of traditional Chinese philosophy. It will do this by examining the case of the Buddhist impact on the development of the revival of Confucian thought in the Song dynasty. The outcomes will transform our understanding of how philosophy was constructed in traditional China and show how this impacts on the interpretation of Chinese philosophy today.
