This project is an investigation of contemporary archaeology method and theory, specifically the proposition that art practice can contribute to the creation and communication of archaeological knowledge. It traces the emergence of art-archaeology collaborations and investigates the application of visual methods in representing Australia’s rich heritage. Supported by qualitative research methods and a program of art practice-based studies, this project seeks to further our understanding of how the past is mediated in the present through the visualisation of archaeology and heritage.
