    Abstract

In this chapter, Ari Larissa Heinrich interviews contemporary artist Jes Fan. Fan lives and works in Hong Kong and Brooklyn, USA. Originally trained at the Rhode Island School of Design in glass making, Fan has expanded his practice to encompass diverse media and approaches. Interested in process rather than technique, Fan's trans-disciplinary artworks today speculate on the intersection of biology and identity in relation to the materiality of the gendered and racialized body.
