    Abstract

Indonesian film today remains somewhat on the fringes of studies into cinema, film, and pop culture for reasons that we do not fully understand. As Southeast Asia's most populous country, with one of its more prolific film industries, not to mention its television industry, this strikes those of us who work on this topic to be both a blessing and a curse. The lack of exposure prompted us editors to conceive a forum in which young scholars who work on Indonesian cinema could garner a wider audience and to begin revealing the scope of Indonesian film.
