Abstract
The piece considers the recent evolution of Australian-French relations in terms of political
developments (G20 held in Brisbane and the first ever visit to Australia by a serving French
President); economic relations and France’s foreign policy initiative through its
UBIFRANCE diplomacy in support of French enterprises; joint commemorations of World
War I; regional cooperation in the Pacific and also differences regarding the environment;
education programmes.
