    Abstract

The selection diversity in general scattering environments was discussed. An infinite series expression of the average signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) gain, for a dual selection combining system under Nakagami-m fading using a series representation of the bivariate cumulative probability distributive function, was derived. The analysis showed that the average SNR gain expression was related to the Nakagami shape factor m, the power correlation and the power allocation.
