Abstract
This paper presents the results of recentarchaeological investigations carried out on the3.64ha Springbank Island, located within the West Basin of Lake Burley Grifn. This was the location for 'Springbank Homestead', the earliest owner occupiedhomestead in present day Canberra. It was also in a region of signicance for Traditional Owners. The following sections provide historical and archaeologicalinformation about a site that continues to be a popularmeeting place for the Canberra community.
