Abstract
Contemporary artists in Indonesia draw on a long lineage of environmental responsiveness, moral and ethical drivers and contemporary paradigms to create work that speaks truth to power. Tisna Sanjaya represents one of the most polyvalent of these artists, reaching popular television audience as effectively as the urban art elite through his activation of traditional art forms in contemporary contexts.
